Beginners Course 2021

The is cost of the Course is $120 (which includes a free shinai; bamboo training sword) the course runs over 5 weeks, and it is a requirement to attend the Sunday at least 3 out of the 5 lessons, exceptions can be made and extra classes can be taken to help advance into the regular classes.

At the end of the beginners course to continue training at AUKC there is a second fee to complete the full membership which last 12 months and allows training with UniSA kendo club also.  

University Kendo Beginners Course 2021 - The first lesson is free (as a come and try).  Beginners course runs for five weeks on SUNDAYS. Beginners are expected to attend majority of sessions to pass through to the next phase.

Please come early to get changed, prepare equipment and meet instructors etc.

A payment is required by the second session (after the come and try): $120 (includes shinai) “Beginners Course Fee”

Once you’ve completed the Beginners Courese, a second payment is then required ($110 AU students or $175* for non-AU students/Associate/public*) to continue and join the AUKC as a full member.

(*This cost includes $88 fee for all Non-University students to join AU Sport.)

To join the AU Kendo Club, please click “Join or Renew” and either select one of the options that best suits you; Student or Associate Groups.  If you are an Adelaide Univserity Student please select Student Group if you are a non-student/staff/general public please select Associate Group.

Reasonable quality shinai (bamboo practice swords) can be obtained cheaply through the Club, plus we have sets of club armour for loan (& uniforms for purchase) with which you might train. This is your chance to give it a go for absolutely minimal cost!

For beginners, please wear loose clothing to training sessions. Please no jewellery (earrings, necklaces, watches/fitbits/fitness trackers etc). You'll want to get a training outfit to match your style once you get into the stride of things.
