Thank you to the lovely team of dedicated hikers who came to the Grampians recently! We had apple-freezing weather and crammed around our campfire in the evenings, but thoroughly appreciated the stunning views of the Fortress and the surrounding cliffs and valleys during the day.
After a very early start, long drive, and a little bush-bashing, we set off down the walking track. The weather rained lightly the whole time. Yet this did not dampen spirits when we reached our first campsite, where we set up under huge, sheltered overhanging cliffs. The next day we hiked quickly to the next camp (more amazing overhangs and caves) where we dropped our packs and scrambled up Mt. Thackeray for incredible views. On the last foggy day, we trekked quickly back to the cars and even had time to stop at the Jaffles and Waffles shop in Coonalpyn mm mm!
Cheers for the good conversation, the navigation (GPS Josh!), and induction into the Heyson lifestyle (creamy bacon pasta, oh yes). Jono beat the world record of biggest blister ever – hope you have recovered…
Thanks everyone and can’t wait for more hikes with you in the future 😉
