PARA SPORT
Para Sport in Australia is undergoing a transformative shift, with more funding, recognition, and pathways being developed for athletes to not just participate but also succeed. This commitment reflects the broader mission of both the Australian Institute of Sport's ‘Win Well’ strategy, and Adelaide University Sport and Fitness’ vision to develop dual career athletes who are prepared for life during and after sport.
We believe that everyone can find a place in sport - a place where an athlete's strengths are recognised, where disability is celebrated, and where big dreams, like representing Australia at the Paralympics, are within reach.
AUSF actively promotes sport and fitness for para athletes, including:
- Opportunities to represent Adelaide University at intervarsity events including SA Challenge and UniSport Nationals
- Accessible facilities at Adelaide University Gyms and our indoor and outdoor sportsgrounds
- Para Sport Come & Try sessions for able-bodied and para athletes
SA CHALLENGE WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
As part of the annual SA Challenge Intervarsity Competition against fellow South Australian universities, Adelaide University Sport and Fitness competes in a Wheelchair Basketball tournament open to both able-bodied and para student athletes.

PARA SPORT COME & TRY
For both able-bodied and para athletes, a Para Sport Come & Try session can introduce the participant to new sporting opportunities, while also providing both visibility and education about what is available and how it is played.
