There are many opportunities to promote your club to either the University community or the wider community.

Club focussed platforms

Social Media
Social media tools such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter are a great way to promote the club and its activities but clubs do need to understand how social media activities can have a positive and negative impact on the club. Tips and AU Sport guidelines on using social media can be found in the AU Sport Social Media Guidelines.
Club E-Newsletters
Are an important means of communication to club members and other interested parties; and can assist in the development of club culture. There are many free online tools such as ‘MailChimp’ that can help in the development of e-newsletters.


AU Sport focussed platforms

AU Sport E-Newsletter
Is developed monthly and includes club and AU Sport news, up and coming events and general interest stories. You can email your news and photos to
AU Sport Website
Is updated on a regular basis and clubs have the opportunity to feature good news stories on the homepage. A Club needs to create the story on their own AU Sport webpage and then notify AU Sport SDOs.

University focussed platforms

 On Dit
Is the student newspaper and is published fortnightly during semester. The editors are keen to include sports features. This is an ideal means of communicating with the University community. You can email the editors at
The Adelaidean
Is the University’s monthly magazine, which is widely circulated to all departments of the University during semester. Clubs are encouraged to submit articles on upcoming events, social evenings and competitions for inclusion by contacting the Editor.

Is a weekly online newsletter emailed to all University staff and clubs are encouraged to submit news and upcoming events to

There are a number of notice boards and brochure displays available inside/outside the AU Sport Office and in the Fitness Hub.

The Messenger

Having a story in your local paper is a great way to spread the news about your club beyond the walls of the University. The Messenger papers love to feature stories about local community events and achievements by members but inclusion in the paper cannot be guaranteed. Contact the local editor if you believe you have a story in which they may be interested.
