Adelaide University Soccer Club has had a successful off season, as the club gears up for the 2022 Women's National Premier Leagues (WNPL) season with some crucial re-signings.
AUSC have announced the re-signing of an astonishing 23 players to the first team squad, including two new recruits making their way to the club.
Inana Toovey and Chanel Todino will be in black and white this year, with the exciting duo set to add great depth to the playing squad.
Toovey joins from Adelaide Comets, after previous spells with Adelaide United and Football SA NTC. Todino joins from Metro United WFC, where she netted 2 goals in 23 appearances.
Women's and Girls Director of Coaching Mark Bosio said, "2022 brings in a few fresh faces to compliment the immense talent within our WNPL squad and I’m personally delighted with the way the squad is evolving."
As well as the two new signings, AUSC also retained most of the 2021 playing squad for the new season.
Georgia Iannella kicked off the re-signings and will lead the WNPL side in 2022, while joint Best & Fairest winner and Player's Player Gemma MacFarlane has also re-signed.
Runner up Best & Fairest Ellie Sparrow also joins the long list, with young up and coming goal keeper Elisa Karas looks to continue her fine form after a great 2021 season.
The WNPL side will have some great experience and leadership on and off the field, with former Adelaide United captain Stella Rigon re-signing for the club. Stella will also join Brenton Ellul as an assistant coach to Jamie Dunning, who takes the reigns for his first season at Uni.
"The retention of players for the 2022 season is a real testament to the culture of our club," Bosio said. "The buy in from players is first class as they continue pushing themselves and their peers, and I’m sure they have a big season ahead of them.
Round 1 of the WNPL fixture kicks off Friday, 25 March with AUSC taking on reigning champions Salisbury Inter at VALO Football Centre.
