Sport at Adelaide University takes centre stage during O'Week

Adelaide University welcomes new students to campus during O'Week, running from Monday 16 February through Friday 20 February - and sport and fitness will play a vital role in providing both wellbeing and community for those beginning their studies.

A range of events have been organised across six locations to introduce new students to the University's physical activity offerings.

From Monday to Thursday, the City East campus will come alive with Sports Village, a celebration of the 40+ sports clubs that play under the Adelaide University banner. From elite-level cricket, football, hockey and rugby to the martial arts, water sports, and specialist clubs like Motorsport, Gliding, eSports and Mountain - there's something for everyone to get involved with.

Clubs will be providing demonstrations throughout the week, and have challenges and activities for students to partake in. The huge rock climbing wall, AU Motorsport Team driving simulator, AU Hockey Club air hockey table, AU Athletics Club sprint track, and AU Boat Club ergo row challenge are some of the highlights. Wheelchairs will be provided to showcase inclusive sport offerings, including Wheelchair Basketball. The Adelaide University Gyms team will be lending its trainers to the event and setting up free equipment, teaching students the benefits of fitness, and the basics of using gym equipment.

The Sport at Adelaide University stalls across all campuses will allow students to learn about how to play social sport on campus, how to represent Adelaide University in Intervarsity competition including at UniSport Nationals, and how to get academic and financial support through the Elite Sport Program.

With Adelaide University confirming its entry into the New Balance University Basketball League's sixth season, information sessions will be held throughout the week with coaches Scott Freer and Lachlan Coppick. Last year, the AU Waatu men's and women's teams both made finals, setting their best-ever win-loss records. This year, the combined forces of the foundation universities are hoping to go even further.

Students at City West(Tuesday), Magill(Wednesday), Mawson Lakes(Thursday), Waite and Roseworthy(Friday) can play mini games, join Adelaide University Sport and Fitness, and grab some free merchandise when they visit the Sport at AU stall.

For students, membership to Adelaide University Sport and Fitness is FREE until 3pm Friday 6 March, providing instant access to our Perks & Partners program - including discounts at UniBar, 40% off New Balance when buying online, discounts on all menu items at LIV EAT Adelaide, and more. Registration is currently open for membership using the promo code 2026MEMBER.
