The competition sees colleges, portfolios and regional campuses go head-to-head across a range of sporting and fitness events, competing to claim the coveted VC Cup. Designed to encourage participation, connection, wellbeing, and friendly rivalry, the VC Cup is a highlight of the Adelaide University sporting calendar. Running across multiple months, the competition features a mix of online and on-campus events, with teams earning points throughout the series to determine the overall cup champions.
The 2026 competition will begin on Monday 22 June with Strava Running - an online event where participants log their best 1km and compete to achieve the best average running times for their team. From there, teams will test their skills across a variety of sports including Badminton at Pridham Hall, Table Tennis at Mawson Lakes Sports Centre, Volleyball at Magill Sports Centre, and Touch Football at Waite Oval which will be held in conjunction with R U OK? Day. Swimming will be the penultimate event, with participants competing both online and across multiple campuses, including Roseworthy and Pridham Hall. The competition will conclude during Sports Week in October, culminating in the iconic 4 x 800m Relay. This final event will see competitors battle for last-minute points before the 2026 Vice Chancellor’s Cup champions are crowned.
A wide range of Adelaide University colleges and portfolios are expected to participate, including the College of Health, College of Engineering and IT, College of Business and Law, Student Experience and Success, People and Culture, regional campuses at Whyalla and Mount Gambier, and many more.
