Day 2: TABLE TENNIS AT GEORGE MURRAY ROOM

Sports Week continued with a small change of plans - Table Tennis moved from the expected sun on the Cloisters to the George Murray Room (the AU Table Tennis club's home!) due to poor weather, but that didn't stop the action. 23 participants from six teams took to the tables in a round robin series of singles and doubles matches, culminating in three playoff matches for the ultimate prize - Sports Week bragging rights!

The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences defeated the joint Division of University Operations and Division of External Engagement team three-nil in the final to take home the gold medals, and the $50 Rebel Sport vouchers.

Everyone else was just a spectator, with ABLE, AUSF and Uni Ops + EE all snatching two wins apiece. The winning team members each took home a Sports Week medal and a $50 Rebel Sport voucher - made possible by our supporting partner Medibank, who joined us in the Cloisters for the event alongside student favourites Red Bull.

New rivalries were forged on the half-court during Sports Week as 3x3 Basketball saw fast, furious action - all six teams competing in a round robin tournament to determine the champions and shape the leaderboard heading into our final event, the VC Cup!

The Division of Academic and Student Engagement (DASE) and Adelaide University Sport and Fitness met in a hard fought final - a controversial call disallowing an after-the-buzzer two-point shot by the hosts and sending the game into overtime. DASE locked in and made it two event wins on the day, taking the overall Sports Week lead.

  • 1st: DASE
